POSITION 1: SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST
Fixed Term 0.4 to 0.8 FTE (negotiable) - Terms 3 and 4, 2023
Simonds Catholic College is a secondary school for boys in Year 7 to 12. The school is located in West Melbourne and is within walking distance of the Queen Victoria Market. At Simonds, the wellbeing of each student is of the utmost importance. The school has 410 enrolled students which enables each boy to be known as an individual. The School Psychologist plays a key role in supporting the educational and wellbeing needs of our students and works closely with the Deputies, Year Level Coordinators and Learning Diversity Leader.
Position Description/Criteria
We are looking for an appropriately qualified and experienced psychologist for an immediate start. Initially, this position is for the remainder of the 2023 school year, with the possibility of ongoing employment. Whilst advertised as a 0.4 to 0.8 FTE, the time fraction and days are negotiable. Experience in engaging and providing psychological support to adolescents with diverse needs is essential, particularly in the context of the secondary school environment. Knowledge and experience in cognitive and educational assessments and the ability to support the implementation of recommendations is a smaller though important part of this role.
- Applicants must have full registration with AHPRA, Psychology Board of Australia.
- Educational and Developmental Psychologist and Board Approved Supervisor highly desired.

POSITION 2: Term 3 LSL Replacement 0.6 - 0.75 FTE (negotiable)
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to join our school as a Term 3 Long Service Leave Replacement Teacher. This part-time position, with a workload ranging from 0.6 to 0.75 FTE, offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the academic development and wellbeing of our students. Teaching Load
- Yr 11 VCE English: Deliver engaging and comprehensive lessons that foster critical thinking, reading, and writing skills.
- Year 7-9 Religious Education: Facilitate discussions and activities that promote a deep understanding of religious principles and values.
- Ethics: Teach ethical reasoning and decision-making skills to students, encouraging thoughtful reflection on moral issues.
- Junior Italian (desirable): Ability to teach Italian at a junior level would be an advantage and provide an opportunity for expanded teaching responsibilities to 0.75FTE over 4 days.
