Simonds Catholic College is fast developing a reputation for excellence in Debating.

Students cover a number of topics, ranging from current issues in the media to longstanding ethical and moral dilemmas. They are taught the fundamentals of formal debating which enable them to greatly improve their public speaking, critical thinking and argumentative skills.

With two teams entered in the five-round Victorian Schools Debating competition, there is plenty of opportunity for committed and talented debaters to test themselves against quality opposition. Results in recent years have been most impressive, with both the Year 9 and Year 10 teams reaching the state finals.
